The Coalition

About DEBOUT PATRIOTES

A union of eleven emerging political parties, formed at a decisive and defining crossroads in Haitian history.

How we were born

DEBOUT PATRIOTES was formally constituted in August 2026, when the political parties and coalitions called to take part in the upcoming general elections registered with the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP).

These elections have been awaited for nearly ten years. A decade during which the country has seen the legitimacy of its institutions erode, the safety of its citizens collapse and trust between the governing and the governed fall apart.

It is in this context that eleven emerging political parties made a choice: rather than scatter, pool their strengths and energy behind a shared vision of how the country should be governed and of the defence of the higher interests of the Nation.

Where we start from

The reality that compels us

We do not start from an abstraction. We start from what the Haitian people live through every day.

  • The collapse of the State

Institutions unable to carry out their most basic duties: protecting, delivering justice, educating, providing care, overseeing the economy. The State has not only weakened — it has stopped being present where citizens need it.

  • The failure of the national elites

Political, economic and intellectual elites that have too often preferred preserving their positions to the responsibility that comes with their place in the Nation.

  • A rapid and alarming decline

Insecurity, forced displacement, collapsing public services, impoverishment, brain drain: the country’s overall situation is deteriorating at a pace that no longer allows us to wait and see.

Our response

As committed patriots, the leaders, members and supporters of our eleven parties are standing up, ready to march, to move deliberately towards winning political power.

Winning power is not an end in itself. It is the means to reach three inseparable goals: rebuild the State, lay the foundations for the reconstruction of the country and guarantee better living conditions for the people.

We do not ask for trust in the name of the past. We ask for it in the name of the work ahead, and we accept to be held accountable to citizens for it.

Our charter

What holds us together

A coalition is not a merger. These are the principles that guide our common path.

  • Together, without losing our identities

Each member party keeps its name, its structures, its doctrine and its freedom of speech. The coalition coordinates a shared vision; it absorbs no one.

  • The Nation before the party

The higher interests of the Nation come before party calculations. Every decision of the coalition is judged by that standard.

  • Decisions by consensus

Common orientations are adopted collectively by the Assembly of member parties, where each member has one vote.

  • Accountability to citizens

Whatever we announce, we must be able to explain it, cost it and account for it. Patriotism without accountability is just talk.
